Next weekend, it’s Saddle Fitting 101 with Colleen Meyer of Advanced Saddle Fit. Join us at 6 pm on Friday for a lecture on saddle fitting, saddle design, common misconceptions, new trends (for better or worse!) and much, much more. You CANNOT afford to miss this event! Admission is free with a potluck lunch dish, or $5 without, and an RSVP is appreciated. There’s still room for saddle fit appointments, as well! If you need a new saddle, and want top quality at a reasonable price, this is your chance.

Last but not least, a new addition to our agenda. Do you have a horse with allergies or respiratory disease? Do you have a performance horse who travels often? Do YOU have hayfever or associated allergies? Have a picky eater or a horse that needs to put on weight? Or do you simply want to improve the quality of your hay and how you feed your horse? Join us for an educational seminar from HAYGAIN, a hay steamer which kills all fungal spores and eliminates dust. This product is used by Olympic riders such as Bettina Hoy, Matt Ryan, Debbie McDonald, and numerous advanced level riders and trainers. Admission is free, and food and drink will be provided. See the event’s Facebook page for more information, or to RSVP.

February Update

RESCHEDULED EVENTS
The weather has made us work our schedules around. Our saddle fitting sessions with Colleen Meyer have been postponed to March 5-7, which puts our evening saddle fit lecture on Friday, March 5 at 6 pm. There is still room for saddle fit consultations, so if you couldn’t make our February dates and would like to have a saddle looked at, please let me know.

Our Scott Hassler clinic will be pushed back to March, probably sometime around the 8th or 9th. I’ll send out an email as soon as we confirm something.

Our Lendon Gray clinic is proceeding as planned, February 27-28. Remember to pre-register for auditing to save $5/day! Contact Lauren for details.

NEWS FROM THE SHOW CIRCUIT
Congratulations to students Meg McGarrigle, Anna Mitchell and Chris Ehlers for their recent successes at the January Morven Park schooling show! Both Meg and Anna scored above 70%, and Chris has made huge improvements to her international event horse, Reggae Moon. Congrats to you all!

Also a HUGE congratulations to student Jessica Buchanan to being named to the Pony Club Quadrille Team, which will perform at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky this summer. Jess was selected from a nationwide search for riders! Well done!

FIX-A-TEST SUNDAYS
They’re back! Looking for a way to practice your dressage tests? Want to move up a level in a low-pressure setting? Got a new freestyle you want to try out? There’s plenty of reasons to attend a Fix-A-Test Sunday at Sprieser Sporthorse.

For $20/test, ride any USEF or FEI dressage or eventing test in a full-size ring, and recieve coaching afterwards. No dress code, no braiding, and no equipment rules - ride in whatever tack you’d like.

Here are our spring dates: April 4, May 9, and June 20. More dates may be added; keep an eye on spriesersporthorse.com for the most up-do-date info.

UP AND RUNNING
Thanks to our indoor, exerciser and some heroic operation of a tractor, we’ve stayed up and running through all this snow. And with show season around the corner, that means we’ll be ready! Will YOU be? Trailer-in lessons are going on now, and packages are available.

We have a beautifully plowed parking lot, but our normal trailer parking road is still under snow, so if you’re coming over for a lesson, please park on the blacktop, not around the circle drive. If you have any questions, come on in the barn and find someone and we’ll help you get to where you need to be.

Upcoming Events: January and February

We’re ringing in the new year with two great events. Scott Hassler, USEF Young Horse Team Coach, is back for one of his regular clinics. He’ll be here Saturday, January 2, 8am-2pm. Auditing is $35, and an RSVP is appreciated.

Colleen Meyer of Advanced Saddle Fit is also back for another saddle fit clinic and individual consultations. Colleen lectures on saddle fit and design, common misconceptions and trends in the business. The lecture is at 6 pm, Friday February 12 (note, this is a date change), and is free with a potluck dish, or $5 without. An RSVP is appreciated.

Colleen is also available for individual fit consultations on Friday and Saturday, February 13. If you’re in the market for a new dressage, eventing, jumping, hunting or all-purpose saddle, you can’t afford not to come by. Please email Lauren for more information.

In case of foul weather, the entire weekend will be moved back one week to February 19-21.

The weather outside may be frightful, but winter is delightful in Northern Virginia’s premier dressage facility! We’re working on lots of exciting events for March and April - clinics with Olympians and top international coaches, schooling shows, and much more! Keep your browsers here for the latest information.
